INTRODUCTION

This module explores the foundation of how organizational objectives and organization design are linked and how leadership plays a critical role in maintaining dynamic fit within a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous environment through innovation. Key concepts in organization culture from modern to postmodern design,adaptation and innovation to keep own operating context in check leveraging on systemic agility and resilience. A constant attention is given to the leader as an enabler to innovate and adapt to the context.

 

TEACHING METHOD

Interactive focus on the application of concepts and theories. Cases, illustrations and simulations help translate theory into action. Group works, personal reflections and inquiry. Teaching method is mainly on-line.

 

PRESENTATION

This module focuses on the alignment between the organization and its VUCAoperational context and helps participants understand social dynamics and develop skills needed for responsible leadership in agile organizationsto reduce organizational debt resulting in stress and tensions and optimize the global performance.

 

The course adopts organizational frameworks to explore critical moments in leading change and innovation processes and addresses the changing organizational and environmental context and the changing role of leaders and organizational principles in enabling innovation, knowledge creation and learning. The emphasis lies on the transformational changes in the world of work, its potential and peril for organizations and their competitive advantage and for individuals and their learning and development.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • Practice the learning activities in a business and personal context.
  • Increased competence in recognizing and identifying the characteristics of the operating context.
  • Understanding of the continuum between modern and postmodern paradigm in which organizations are, being able to qualify and quantify the positioning of an organization is such a continuum.
  • Understanding of the differences between traditional organizations and agile organizations and leadership challenges.
  • Understandingthe transformationalchallengeof anorganizationon its way to the postmodern paradigm.
  • Leveraging on system thinking and Agent Based Modeling tool to analyze the systemic characteristics of the organization and apply non-linear strategy to align it to the context and maximize its global performance.
